Our History

The first community of Muslims in Northeast Wisconsin

Why We’re Building

The current FVIS site, which is 40 years old, is located in a rural area without municipal water or sewer and is in need of repairs and maintenance. The county is planning to enlarge our street, which will significantly reduce the size of the mosque’s property. While we have outgrown our facility, AlHamdulillah, we continue to make the best possible use of our building to serve our community while we fundraise to be able to complete the new FVIS mosque.

Since 1970

FVIS was the first community of Muslims in Northeast Wisconsin. We have grown from about ten families in 1970 to more than one hundred families today. In recent years, refugees from many countries have settled and joined our community. Our current mosque, built to serve the needs of the early community, was designed and sized like a modest house and attendance exceeds capacity, with men filling the prayer space ordinarily reserved for women.
